The producer of Days of Future Past insists there's more to see from JLaw's character Mystique
Mystique could be the new Wolverine as X-Men's producers tease that they are considering a spin-off film based on Jennifer Lawrence's character in the hit franchise.
Oscar winner Jennifer returns as the blue-skinned mutant for the new movie Days of Future Past, which hits cinemas next month - but ahead of the all-star ensemble film's release, it's been hinted that Mystique could get her own stand alone movie.
So far, unlike Marvel's Avengers series, the only X-Men character to receive a spin-off is Hugh Jackman's Wolverine but producer Lauren Shuler Donner has hinted that could be about to change.
More from Mystique? (Marvel)
"There was a regime [at the studio] that didn't see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we're going to do right by it," says Donner, who's produced all of the X-Men films.
"I'd like to do Gambit. I'd like to do Deadpool. We'll see. There's a lot of really great characters."
Mystique takes on a slightly more prominent role in the new film and Donner says she'd be interested in taking that character forward into a solo film. Producer/writer Simon Kinberg adds, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there's so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo."
There could be some backlash over the plans though as last month Days of Future Past's poster came under fire from some fans for the dominance of JLaw. Despite Mystique being more of a supporting character in the new movie, Jennifer is blown up to huge proportions and takes a prime place next to Wolverine, arguably the main character.
The latest movie's poster has come under fire from some fans
Out-sizing Magneto and Professor X, many fans have hit out at the designer's obsession with highlighting the fact they have the It girl of the moment in their movie.
"The new X-Men poster is hilarious. It looks like Wolverine, Mystique, and Friends", one disgruntled fan tweeted after the artwork was unveiled.
