Ed Sheeran Performs 'Sing' and 'Ellie Goulding Break-Up Song' On SNL
Apr 14th 2014, 09:36

Ed Sheeran stormed the stage during Saturday Night Live this weekend to perform his brand new single 'Sing' but that wasn't the only treat the British star had up his sleeve as he also sang another new track titled 'Don't,' which is widely speculated to be written about rumoured Ellie Goulding.

The 23-year-old served as the musical guest on last weekend's SNL in promotion of his anticipated upcoming album 'x' (Multiply) and treated the audience to his first ever performance of his new track 'Sing' which has been likened to Justin Timberlake.

While that performance went down a storm with the audience, it was Ed's rendition of controversial album track 'Don't,' which some have speculated was inspired by his reported romance with blonde beauty Ellie Goulding.

Lyrics from the track include: "Told her I'm not really looking for another mistake, called an old friend thinking that the trouble would wait, but then I jumped right in a week later returned, I reckon she was only looking for a lover to burn," with the latter line believed to be in reference to Ellie's smash hit single 'Burn.'

Ellie was rumoured to have been dating Ed last year (WENN)

Ed recently talked about his muse for the single in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine and insisted that he didn't write it about his BFF Taylor Swift: "It's 100 percent not about Taylor.

"Taylor's one of these people that if you piss her off and she writes a song about you, it's not good news for you. I've never dated Taylor. I've dated a few singers, though," he added, once again hinting at his alleged relationship with Ellie.
