Chris Brown Sympathises With Justin Bieber Growing Up In Spotlight: 'I Thought I Was Invincible'
Sep 23rd 2014, 14:34

Chris Brown has transformed into a new man following his brief jail stint earlier this year and he now admits that his trouble with the law was a harsh wake up call to change his bad boy behaviour, and he's offered something of a warning to his pal Justin Bieber who has also created some controversial headlines, explaining that it's easy to get trapped by the fame and success but it's important to rise above it.

The 'Loyal' singer spent three months in jail this year after violating the terms of his probation, putting his career on hold, but since his release in May, Chris has been on a mission to get his life back on track which has included the long-awaited release of his sixth studio album, 'X.'

While he may be on the straight and narrow path now, Chris, 25, willingly holds his hands up and admits he has done wrong, candidly telling Fox News: "I've always reneged on a lot of my situations. But I think that's a part of growing up and learning. For me, now I have a better sense of what's important — being that I was incarcerated, being that I've had the bad stuff happen to me.

"You can't continuously mess up. You're not going to get that many chances. I'm not saying by my peers, but I'm just saying by God in general. For me and my spirit, I just want to be able to have some peace, be able to chill and do what I love - because I was blessed with this opportunity and this talent, so I don't want to waste it." Chris continued: "Sometimes you've got to touch the stove to see that it's hot. And I'm one of those guys that does that all of the time. Sometimes I might be my own worst enemy. I'm not always going to make the right decision."

In reference to his friend Bieber, 20, who often hits headlines for his run-ins with the law, including an arrest and charge for a DUI in Miami earlier this year, Chris says that he understands how tough it can be to live out your mistakes in the public eye. "Growing up in the public eye, being younger with all of the success — girls, money, everything — it can get to your head real fast. ... I was arrogant, cocky, thought I was invincible at one point," Chris explains. "We don't get the benefit of growing up behind the camera. We don't get the benefit of making our mistakes and nobody hears about it."

He added referring to himself: "At first I went mentally into being aggressive, and being totally like unapproachable with situations because I didn't feel comfortable with myself living my life, as far as whatever mistakes I made, because I was constantly being judged. I'm an entertainer. And I influence a lot of people, young and older. ... Before, I was out of hand. So I think now it's time to grow up."
