Diana Ross wasn't letting her son Evan Ross go off to start his new life without a bang as the singer is reported to have held a "farewell barbecue" for the actor and his new wife Ashlee Simpson to mark the new chapter of their lives, after the couple tied the knot last weekend.
Hunger Games actor Evan, 26, and Ashlee, 29, got married at his mother Diana's estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, in a private ceremony on Sunday evening and it seems it was particularly hard for the iconic diva to send her son off into marital life as reports have emerged that the matriarch threw a celebratory party for the newlyweds the following day.
According to the New York Post's Page Six, the "farewell" bash was strictly "for close friends and family" only and boasted a "lavish bohemian theme" courtesy of events planner Brett Galley from Hollywood Pop who helped Diana, 70, throw the party. It came just hours after Evan and Ashlee, who went public with their romance in July 2013, got hitched in what sounds like a beautiful and serene ceremony decorated with dreamcatchers and tents as Ashlee walked down the aisle which was aligned with lit lanterns, according to E! News.
Making the hearts of their guests melt, Ashlee was walked down the aisle and given away by her five-year-old son Mowgli, whom she shares with ex-husband of three years, Pete Wentz. Those invited to witness their special day included Ashlee's older sister Jessica Simpson who served as her maid of honour and her close friend CaCee Cobb.
Adding a personal touch, Diana is said to have officiated the ceremony and belted out a string of her classic hits as Evan and Ashlee exchanged their vows, including 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' and 'You & I' while the choir sang 'Lovely Day.'

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Diana played such a big part in the ceremony as Evan previously admitted that the legendary singer wanted to be involved in "every part of our wedding."
The couple couldn't be more on cloud nine after becoming husband and wife, with an insider telling Page Six that Ashlee was overheard saying that "she and Evan 'were meant to be,' and, 'Diana is a wonderful mother.'"
Aww, congrats to the happy couple!
