Homeland fans were left devastated at the end of the last season when lead character Nicholas Brody appeared to meet the end of the road, but the latest spoilers suggest this may not have been the case after all as Damian Lewis, who plays the doomed military man, was spotted on set this month in South Africa where the rest of the cast have been filming for weeks. So, what does this mean?!
In the grande season three finale last December, viewers were left stunned as Brody was sentenced to death by hanging and looked into the eyes of his lover, Carrie played by Claire Danes, during his final moments, making for truly harrowing scenes. However, what if it wasn't necessarily the end for the former Marine and he actually did the impossible and survived? Well, judging by the latest photos, that may be the case.
Last week, Lewis was snapped leaving a trailer on the show's set in Cape Town, South Africa, where scenes for season four have been filmed over the last few weeks. The British actor looked pretty relaxed, walking down the steps while appearing to be whistling to himself. It's not known if he was dressed in character, but Lewis looked rather smart in a navy shirt, matching trousers and black shoes while carrying a bag.
Danes has been spotted on the South African set of the political drama all summer although it's not known if she has filmed any scenes with Lewis. While it would be pretty difficult for writers to explain how Brody somehow managed to escape death by hanging, it's entirely possible that Lewis was simply shooting scenes for a flashback sequence, although, fans will no doubt be hoping that his character makes a dramatic return permanently.

A trailer for season four was released this month, and showed Carrie back working with the CIA and in the middle of a mission in Pakistan, and it appears she has left her lovechild with Brody back in the States, following her conundrum last season on whether or not to give him up for adoption.
Homeland returns on October 5 when it will air two episodes back-to-back. Watch the season four trailer below:
