Simon Cowell Wants Mel B To 'Prove Herself' As X Factor Judge?
May 28th 2014, 06:26

With the next series of X Factor just around the corner, speculation is mounting on who will be the fourth judge. New reports suggest that Scary Spice is tipped for the elusive role and has been told by music mogul Simon Cowell that she has to "prove" her commitment to the show.

The Spice Girl has already had roles on America's Got Talent and The Voice Kids in Australia, Mel B was also a special guest mentor on The X Factor while producers scrambled to find a replacement for Kelly Rowland back in 2012; eventually settling on Nicole Scherzinger.

But this doesn't mean the 38-year-old star has secured the judging spot, as sources told The Sun newspaper Mel B would have to prove she can give time to mentoring acts as well.

"Being a judge on The X Factor is not just about turning up and giving your comments, it is about mentoring as well," an insider revealed. "For Mel to get the job she has to prove she can devote enough time to the show and prove her other commitments won't get in the way.

"She is the front-runner for the fourth judging spot but will only get it if Simon is satisfied it will work."

The new judge will join Simon and Cheryl Cole on the panel, after their 3-year break from the show. It is likely that Louis Walsh, who has been on the UK version of the talent show since it began, will be back too.

"The X Factor judging panel is all about the drama," the source added. "Mel is sure to rub Cheryl up the wrong way, which Simon is really looking forward to!"
