Cameron Diaz has insisted that the recent comments she reportedly made about monogamy were taken out of context.
The star was quoted as saying that she didn't think people were "really naturally monogamous", adding: "We all have the same instincts as animals. But we live in a society where it's ingrained in us to do these things."
However, she has now clarified that she was talking about the mindset of her character in the film The Other Woman rather than her own life.

She is quoted by The Express as saying: "That's not what I said. My character says she doesn't believe in monogamy...! I believe in monogamy. That is an important part of a successful relationship.
"I have had [monogamous relationships]. And, by the way, also, not all relationships end because people get cheated on or people cheat.
"Relationships end because they end for whatever reason, but they are still successful relationships that have been monogamous for however long they've lasted."
The Other Woman, which also stars Kate Upton and Leslie Mann, was released in the US this weekend and is reportedly in with a good shot of winning the No1 slot at the Box Office.
