Peter Capaldi Set To 'Revitalise' Doctor Who?
Apr 28th 2014, 15:51

Peter Capaldi will "revitalise" Doctor Who according to his co-star on the hit BBC sci-fi drama.

Ahead of the drama's return to our screens later this year, Peter Capaldi, who took over from Matt Smith at the end of the year, has been spotted filming scenes.

And according to Tom Riley, the actor will "revitalise" the show. Speaking to Flicks And The City, Riley who will make a cameo in the new series, said:

"I think Peter's going to completely revitalise the show - not that it needed revitalising! He's going to bring something completely different to the Doctor.

"When you change a lead actor, everything's going to change - but you can rest assured he's going to absolutely smash it."

Peter will be making his official debut as the new Time Lord later this year (BBC Pictures)

Admitting that it has been hard to keep his role a secret from fans, the actor continued:

"The thing about Doctor Who is it's chased around the world, so there's 50 fans hanging out at every location.

"So the photos are out there of what I'm doing and people are putting it together - what they think I might be playing - but I can't say until they tell me I can!"

Meanwhile, whilst Peter Capaldi prepares to come alive in Doctor Who, he'll be doing the opposite in The Musketeers following the news that he will be killed off in the BBC drama.

With the role of the iconic Time Lord in the bag, Peter was seen playing the role of Cardinal Richelieu in first series of The Musketeers earlier this year. However, after just one series, Peter announced his departure.

And now it appears that Capaldi's exit from the hit BBC drama will be explained by the death of his character.

Predicting how Capaldi's exit will be played out, actor Tom Burke told the Radio Times:

"Come the next series the Cardinal will be dead. He'll just be gone. We're all like, 'Where's the Cardinal? Oh he's dead'."
