Prepare to be truly terrified when American Horror Story: Freak Show returns to screens this month as the first footage to be released from the upcoming season four promises that it'll be the most twisted and complex to date, with viewers treated to the first real glimpses of the bearded lady, the two-headed girl and Twisty the Clown. Oh, the shivers!
Fans of the show have until October 8 to brace themselves for the craziness that is certified to ensue in the new batch of episodes, although the one-minute teaser should give them an inkling of the wild ride they're in for as it provides the first proper look at what will happen this season, which is centered on the last ever Freak Show to take place in the US in Florida. In the short clip, Sarah Paulson is really seen for the first time sporting two heads as her dual characters Bette and Dot Tattler, and it'll probably take some getting used to.
Naively, Bette and Dot believed that heading off the to circus would be full of "pink and wrapped in silk," however, while packing up her bags to join the rest of the freaks, she says in the voice over: "It was in the fall when I realised the world that I had known was forever doomed. I knew I was about to enter the gates of hell but like an inescapable pole of gravity, there was nothing I could do about it."
It doesn't help that the bearded lady, aka, Kathy Bates, is filling her head(s) with a bag of dreams which are actually lies, promising that she'll be selling out the venue night after night. "This place is as good as it gets for freaks like us," she tells her. That would have been easy to believe, until the freaks are attacked with bottles and terrorised while they sleep by the scariest clown ever seen on TV. Freak Show certainly won't be for the faint-hearted!

Other stars who will feature in the fourth installment of the hit FX fright-fest include Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Lily Rabe, Gabourey Sibide and of course, the fabulous Jessica Lange, who has just been confirmed to sing a cover of a Lana Del Rey song to fulfill her seasonal musical moment.
