Tonight saw the semi finals of The Great British Bake Off take place. With a chance to be crowned winner of GBBO 2014, there was all to play for the final four soon became the final three when Chetna was eliminated from the competition.
The theme for tonight's episode was patisserie with baklava being the first challenge that Chetna, Richard, Luis and Nancy had to tackle. Each of the bakers were imaginative with their bakes as Chetna declared that she was making a chocolate baklava. Luis was equally as creative when he made Indian rose flavoured baklava in the shape of a flower. However, despite his intricate design, it didn't go down to well with judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry. Star baker Richard delivered the first innuendo of the night when he declared to the judges: "I've toasted some nuts off."
However, Mary also made us giggle when she said "get pulling", to which host Sue Perkins responded with: "That's Mary's motto." Richard's innuendo aside and he got the first win of the evening when Mary told Richard: "I think that's a winner" after she tried his bake.
Moving on to the technical challenge and it was another bake that none of the bakers had heard of. Anyone for a schichttorte? Well, thanks to GBBO, we soon found out how to make one when Chetna and co were tasked with creating a 20 layer cake by using the grill. As time went on, Richard and Luis managed to get their layers done. However, the same couldn't be said for Nancy and Chetna who fell short. But surely Paul wouldn't notice would he? Erm, this is Paul Hollywood so of course he did and set about counting each layer when he judged them with Mary. As Paul counted, Sue could be seen rolling her eyes and declaring: "I need to brace myself." With the technical challenge done, it was Luis who took first place and Chetna who came last.

Two bakes down and the showstopper challenge was to make entremets - small cakes to me and you. Once again, the final four pulled out all the stops when it came to their flavours. Whilst Luis went for flavours including pomegranate and pistachio and chocolate and cherry, Chetna went for flavours including cappuccino and chocolate, orange and hazelnut. The time soon came for Paul and Mary to judge and once again had nothing but praise for Richard for his bakes. Mary commented: "The finish is very good", whilst Paul said that Richard's bake was "extremely good." Luis, Nancy and Chetna were also given some praise for their creations. But sadly, for Chetna, her time in the GBBO tent was over when Mel delivered the bad news that she was leaving. Speaking of her exit, Chetna said: "I will take away so much. Such amazing memories and friends."
Luis meanwhile, was seen getting emotional and teary as he contemplated being in the final. Of his place in next week's show, the baker declared: "My family are going to be so excited."
