May 15th 2014, 20:29

Batman Vs Superman is generating all sorts of rumours and already facing the backlash for it, despite us not knowing the details. The latest rumour is that the movie will introduce a new Joker following on from Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning performance and shocking death.

The Aussie actor was highly praised for his menacing role in the second of Christopher Nolan's trilogy, The Dark Knight, and now it appears that Batman, played by Ben Affleck, will be facing his arch nemesis once more.

Is there a new Joker in town? Larry Fong posted this cryptic image (Instagram/Larry Fong)

It has been teased by the Man of Steel sequel's director of photography, Larry Fong, that the Joker will appear in the new movie after he posted this photo in the following image on Instagram over three weeks ago.

The image was found by the Man of Steel fan page and it could mean a number of things.

One, the Joker could be starring in the Batman Vs Superman movie, or that they will bring the villain into the new Justice League film that is in the pipeline and that they will be shooting back-to-back with Batman Vs. Superman.

The Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will shoot Henry Cavill once again as Superman/Clark Kent, and also Ben Affleck who will star as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Earlier this week Snyder released an image of Batman and his bat mobile that set Twitter into a meltdown.

Gal Gadot stars as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince and joins Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, while Jeremy Irons will be taking over from Sir Michael Caine as Alfred in the new movies.

The film is set to open worldwide on May 6 2016. Who could play The Joker?
