Gary Barlow Should Keeping His OBE Claims David Cameron Following Tax Avoidance Allegations
May 12th 2014, 09:30

Prime Minister David Cameron has insisted Take That's Gary Barlow shouldn't give back his OBE following revelations he'd invested in a tax avoidance scheme.

Barlow along with two members of Take That Howard Donald and Mark Owen may have to pay back millions in tax following a tribunal ruling. Margaret Hodge, chair of the Commons Public Accounts Committee Margaret Hodge, claimed after the news that the star should give back his OBE but speaking on ITV's Good Morning Britain today, Cameron said it was not necessary.

"Gary Barlow has done a huge amount for the country, he's raised money for charity, he has done very well for Children in Need. The OBE was in respect of that work and what he has done," he said on the subject of the OBE.

"Clearly this scheme was wrong and it is right that they're going to have to pay back the money."

The X Factor judge, along with 1000 others put money into schemes to support the music industry which this week was ruled to have actually been set up for tax avoidance purposes, according to the tribunal.
