X-Men: Days of Future Past stars Hugh Jackman and Peter Dinklage have joked that they've never heard of new X-Men recruit Channing Tatum, who was recently announced to be starring in a future movie.
After a huge amount of speculation X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed Channing's casting this week telling Total Film that the Magic Mike hunk is perfect for the role of Gambit: "He's a rogue. Channing, he's a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau," Donner said. "And he can handle the action. We all know that. And he's got a really good heart."
At the 2014 MTV Movie Awards last month, Tatum told MTV News that he "would die" to play the rascal mutant. "I met with Lauren Shuler Donner. I would love [to]. Gambit's really the only X-Men that I've ever loved. I love them all. They're all great. I don't know," he said. "I guess being from down south… I just related to him. He's the most un-X-Men X-Men that's ever been in X-Men, other than maybe Wolverine."

While Channing might be excited, X-Men veteran Hugh, who has played Wolverine seven times, has joked about the hunk's CV.
"I'm thrilled for Channing", Hugh told media today at the Singapore press conference for Days of Future Past. But the actor went on to quip "I've never heard of him, he's an up and coming actor isn't he?" Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage joined in on the joke, insisting "he's a dancer I think".

"But it's a great break for him, I too was unknown when I did it", continued Hugh, "So I hope it does big things for him".
The 45-year-old also spoke out on the reports he'll play Wolverine for at least three more movies, insisting he won't be quitting the character anytime soon: "It completely changed my life and obviously continues to. It's a role I'm so grateful to have. I get asked all the time when I'm gonna give it up but it's a very hard thing to imagine."
"This is very close to me and it feels like a part of who I am", he concluded.
