The 2014 Cannes Film Festival officially kicks off today and while opening movie Nicole Kidman's Grace of Monaco has received a mauling from the critics, there's plenty of other offerings that promise to get the French Riviera buzzing.
Ryan Gosling's directorial debut Lost River is one of the most hyped films at this year's festivals thanks in part to the anticipation of seeing how the Drive star fares behind the camera. There's also the big name cast to look forward to which includes former Doctor Who star Matt Smit.
For the family market, How To Train Your Dragon 2 is expected to bring in great reviews ahead of it's mainstream release.
Meanwhile teen idols Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart both have new movies debuting at the ten day event, with Brit actor Rob showing up to promote two projects, The Rover and Maps to the Stars.

Ryan Reynolds stars in Canadian thriller The Captive alongside Rosario Dawson, with the story focusing on Reynolds' hunt for his kidnapped daughter after he discovers she may still be alive after eight years.
The Homesman sees Tommy Lee Jones in front and behind the camera for a western drama co-starring Oscar winner Hilary Swank.
Finally, Foxcatcher already has 2015 Oscar buzz surrounding it thanks to a star turn from Anchorman funnyman Steve Carell as John DuPont, a real life sports enthusiast turned murderer.
