Paul Walker's Fast & Furious co-stars have been speaking out on how the seventh movie will handle Brian O'Conner's exit from the franchise after the death of Walker last year.

The seventh movie in the global hit series was put on hold in the immediate aftermath of Walker's death at the age of 40 last November. The actor was on a Thanksgiving break from production on the movie, when a car he was travelling in crashed at high speed, killing both Walker and the driver, his friend Roger Rodas.

Jordana Brewster is preparing to head back to set after production was restarted at the end of last month. The actress knows it will be a tough time, "I'm sure it will be very bittersweet," the star told E! News at the Marie Claire Fresh Faces party on Tuesday. "We all just want to honor Paul going back."

"I'm looking forward to being back with the Fast family, but there's definitely a key element missing," Brewster admitted but she was less keen to open up about how O'Conner will be written out of the film, with Walker yet to complete his scenes ahead of his death. "That's all under lock and key. I'm not able to say anything," Brewster insisted.

Recent reports have claimed that producers have found a way to keep their star in the final cut of the movie. "They have hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul's physique and they will be used for movement and as a base," an inside source has told the New York Daily News. "Paul's face and voice will be used on top using CGI."

Vin Diesel meanwhile is already back on set and has been sharing behind the scenes photos with his Facebook fans. One image posted on Wednesday sees the action hero looking in good spirits as he poses next to one of his rides.

Last week the star posted what appears to be another photo from the set with costar Jason Statham which he captioned "Hats off to Jason for going above and beyond...SEVEN will be EPIC!!! P.s. Making Pablo proud..."
