Simon Cowell caused a stir when Britain's Got Talent colleague Amanda Holden thought he was on poppers - a known sex-enhancing drug often linked to the gay clubbing community.
But the father-of-one has said that the strange stuff he was sniffing was just smelling-salt to help with headaches.
Holden told the Daily Star: "I asked him if they were poppers."
And she wasn't the first one to make the mistake.

"If I've got a headache it's good for it. I need them for long days," the mogul said. "But here's a true story.
"I was sniffing them in a meeting with an American guy. I use them all the time, I think this is normal.
"And this guy is staring at me. And at the end I'm thinking: 'Christ! He thinks I'm taking poppers.'"
Britain's Got Talent returns tonight for its 2014 run, with Holden and Cowell joined once again by David Walliams and Alesha Dixon, who joined back in 2012.
