Miley Cyrus has had quite the week, with the death of her beloved dog Floyd and having to pull out of her Bangerz Monday night concert because of the flu, but the singer says that this hasn't been the first tough time that she's had to battle through, with her opening up to Elle magazine about her previous depression in a brand new interview.
Miley lives the life that many youngsters out there can only dream of and although she appreciates her fame and fortune now, she says that her life hasn't always been about looking glamorous on those red carpets, as she opened up about her bullying past.
"I went through a time where I was really depressed," the 21-year old tells the magazine. "I locked myself in my room and my dad had to break my door down..."
"I had really bad skin, and I felt really bullied because of that. But I never was depressed because of the way someone else made me feel, I just was depressed," she continued to say.

Miley went on to say that things are a lot better now, admitting that she connects with her fans on a personal level and they are the reason that she puts so much effort into everything that she does.
"That gives me a big purpose - a reason to wake up in the morning," she says in terms of being a role model for struggling teens that are going through similar things that she did as a youngster, adding: "That's bigger than to put on my f**cking feathers and my little outfits."
