Tyrion Lannister has become a fan-favourite on Game Of Thrones for his quick-wit and brilliant ability to suss out everyone else's dodgy behaviour, but it seems he should have been looking closer to home this entire time as a new theory floating around the Internet suggests that he's not who he thinks he is.
Throughout the unpredictable HBO series so far, viewers have been led to believe that Tyrion is the dwarf son of Joanna and Tywin Lannister, and brother of Queen Cersei and Jaime, all of whom - except their late mother - have made it sterling clear that they have nothing but hatred for the Imp. While Tywin has suggested his hate for Tyrion stems from him "killing" his mother during childbirth, it seems the real reason could be a lot deeper according to the latest theory…
According to Buzzfeed, the new theory goes that Tyrion may not actually be a Lannister at all, and is the illegitimate spawn of Joanna and… wait for it… Aerys Targaryen. That's right, Targaryen as in the father of Danerys Targaryen, the mother of dragons. Which would make Tyrion her half-brother. If you want to make it really complicated, he could also be the half-uncle of Jon Snow - but that's a theory for another day!
So how exactly has this conclusion come to fruition? Well, the theory goes that Joanna was seduced by King Aerys when Tywin served as his Hand on throne. Their affair resulted in Joanna's pregnancy but Tywin, after learning of the tawdry fling, sought to abort the baby by giving his cheating wife drugs.

Unfortunately for Twyin, this had the opposite affect and killed Joanna during childbirth while giving Tyrion the deformity which makes him a dwarf. It's a pretty darn good theory and explains exactly why Tywin spewed his hate at his youngest and said hurtful things like: "You are no son of mine!" just before he died.
