May 28th 2014, 22:00

NEW YORK (AP) — Jimmy Iovine's move to Apple is allowing John Janick to lead Interscope Geffen A&M.

Universal Music Group, the label's parent company, announced Wednesday that Janick will oversee IGA later this year. Janick is currently IGA's chief operating officer and president.

Iovine founded IGA in 1989.

Janick joined the label in 2012 and managed its day-to-day duties. He founded Fueled by Ramen, the independent label distributed through Warner Music, in 1996. Its roster includes fun., Paramore and Panic! at the Disco.

Janick also worked at Elektra, another Warner label, when Bruno Mars and CeeLo Green topped the charts.

Iovine founded Beats Electronics in 2008 with Dr. Dre. The duo is joining Apple, following its announcement to acquire Beats Electronics and its music service, Beats Music, for $3 billion.
