The 25th annual ceremony celebrates representations of the LGBT community in media
Orange Is the New Black and Philomena were among the winners at last night's GLAAD Media Awards in New York.
The annual awards celebrated its 25th year on Saturday night, handing out gongs to media for their inclusive representations of the LGBT community.
Netflix smash hit show Orange Is the New Black took home the Outstanding Comedy Series, beating Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Glee, Modern Family and Please Like Me. The show's star Laura Prepon was at the ceremony to collect the gong, looking stunning in a green lace dress.

The Oscar nominated Philomena, starring Steve Coogan and Dame Judi Dench, won Outstanding Film - Wide Release, beating Blue Is the Warmest Colour, Dallas Buyers Club, Kill Your Darlings and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

An episode of Elementary entitled 'Snow Angels' earned Outstanding Individual Episode while Star Trek veteran George Takei, who hosted the event, received the Vito Russo Award for making a significant difference in promoting equality for the LGBT community.
