'Saxophones Don't Belong In Rock and Roll': Courtney Love Disses Bruce Springsteen?
Apr 16th 2014, 13:18

Courtney Love has voiced her opinion on Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last week, with the singer claiming their "saxophones don't belong" in the genre.

The Hole frontwoman was among guests at the induction ceremony in New York last week and watched on as Nirvana were honoured marking the 20th anniversary since the death of her husband Kurt Cobain, while Springsteen's E Street Band had the pleasure of performing before being inducted into the Hall.

While she may have game-faced a smile as The Boss' longtime band were inducted, Courtney now says that she doesn't approve of them being classed as rock and roll.

In the latest video of her Love on Love YouTube series, Courtney Love on..., the rocker says: "I like Nebraska. And whenever I say that to a Springsteen person (fan), they look at me funny."

Sitting in the back of a car and waving a cigarette around, Courtney continues: "With Springsteen, I just... I really like him. He's a nice guy. Cameron Crowe, an old, very dear friend of mine, took me to the Staples Center (in Los Angeles) for a three-night gig, and I could only last an hour and a half in a three-and-a-half hour show with the Boss."

Making a further dig, Courtney adds: "My Springsteen problem is just that saxophones don't belong in rock 'n' roll. They just don't belong."

The 49-year-old also mused: "I don't think he sits around listening to Hole records, do you?"

Some may be surprised by Courtney's comments considering she ended her notorious, on-going feud with former Nirvana star Dave Grohl last week, whom she had publicly rowed with since Cobain's death in 1994.

Finally putting an end to their spat after years of trading insults, Courtney and Grohl embraced each other for a warm hug on stage at the induction ceremony while paying tribute to Cobain, who committed suicide at the age of 27.
