Andrew Garfield has put an end to speculation about Spider-Man's religion, with the actor confirming that the Marvel hero, like him, does indeed have Jewish roots.
Garfield was brought up Jewish and has argued that Spidey/Peter Parker's character traits are an undisputable sign that the character is Jewish.
The Queens based character "is neurotic", explains Garfield. "Peter Parker is not a simple dude. He can't just switch off."
"He never feels like he's doing enough. And Peter suffers from self-doubt. He ums and ahs about his future because he's neurotic. He's Jewish. It's a defining feature", the star adds to Time Out.
"He's an over-thinker. It would be much easier if he was a life-saving robot."

Garfield added a caveat for fans, stating that "I hope Jewish people won't mind the cliché, because my father's Jewish. I have that in me for sure."
Andrew stars with real life love Emma Stone in the sequel which hits cinemas this week. Marc Webb's movie has had a mixed response from critics but is expected to storm to the top of the box office thanks in part to the huge amount of promotion Emma and Andrew, along with co-star Jamie Foxx, have been doing in recent weeks.
