Carrie Fisher Lost 40 Pounds For Star Wars Comeback
May 9th 2014, 16:18

As Carrie Fisher braces herself to reprise her role as 80s pin-up Princess Leia for JJ Abrams' new Star Wars movie, her mother Debbie Reynolds reveals that Fisher has had to lose around 40 pounds.

The actress, whose metal 'slave' bikini became such a hit, even Rachel wore it in Friends, that Fisher has no doubt felt the need to get back in shape for the movie which has already begun shooting.

Carrie Fisher has reportedly lost 40 pounds ahead of her reprisal of Princess Leia (Wenn)

"She's been on a diet ever since [she was cast in the film], because you know they have to be up to par, so she looks terrific," Fisher's mother told Extra host Mario Lopez.

"She's very excited, as we all are, because we all love Star Wars."

The 57-year-old has had a public battle with her weight after announcing that she lost 50 pounds on the Jenny Craig diet in 2011.

At the time she joked that after her stunning weight loss she could "get into the metal bikini and just walk around the house like an idiot".

It looks like Carrie is back on track, showing off a svelte figure on the town in London in recent weeks. Joking about being cast in the film again, the star said: "I'm glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape."
