The Rolling Stone held a final goodbye for his girlfriend with her friends in New York

Mick Jagger said goodbye to his girlfriend, the fashion designer L'Wren Scott, one last time on Friday night at a memorial service held in New York.

The celebrity-packed service was held six weeks after Scott committed suicide at her New York home. The Rolling Stone frontman was joined by a host of stars from the worlds of fashion, music and movies who honoured L'Wren with readings and personal tributes during the private service at St Barts Church on Friday evening.

Sir Mick peformed a rendition of Bob Dylan's Just Like A Woman, while his Rolling Stone bandmate Keith Richards, film directors Martin Scorsese and Baz Luhrmann, actresses Julianne Moore, Meg Ryan, Renee Zellweger and Olivia Mun looked on.

Vogue and Vanity Fair editors Anna Wintour and Graydon Carter were also in attendance while Sarah Jessica Parker and Ellen Barkin, close friends of Scott, both delivered tributes .

L'Wren's niece Hannah Bambrough, and James Jagger read poems while Psalm 23 was read aloud by Jagger's grandchildren, Mazie and Zak.

Andre Leon Talley, a former editor at large at Vogue told the Telegraph of the emotional service: "Everyone spoke that loved her. Everyone had their own beautiful memories of L'Wren. Mick Jagger spoke, Sarah Jessica Parker spoke, I spoke, Rachel Feinstein spoke, and all the grandkids and sons they read scripture."

"The mood was beautiful, solemn, elegant. The mood was L'Wren. She would have approved of everything, the flowers, every single thing. It was brilliant."
