Prince William Wants To Return To Work, Not Royal Full Time Duties As Planned
May 27th 2014, 18:38

Prince William is apparently reluctant to take up full-time royal duties, wanting instead to return to his former job as a pilot as he doesn't feel that he's got flying out of his system just yet.

The prince previously worked in the RAF as a search-and-rescue pilot, but stood down eight months ago in order to take part in a 'transitional' year that would lead to full-time royal duties.

However, sources are saying that William may have changed his mind and doesn't feel ready to take up royal work full time. Instead, according to a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, he's looking into "a range of options for public service."

A royal aide told The Sunday Times: "The duke is fully committed to his foundation and charities, but he feels he has not yet got flying out of his system. Should the duke and duchess grow their family, the duke is keen to take on a role which enables him to see them most days. The royal family is fully supportive of the plan."

One option that the prince may be looking into is joining the East Anglian Air Ambulance, which is located near his country home in Norfolk.

Kate Middleton may not be too happy about it, as an extract from her upcoming book Living In the Slipstream: Life As An RAF Wife shows that she worried about William while he was flying. In the introduction, she said: "I cannot pretend that I didn't feel anxious at times when William was on shift in howling gales, knowing that he was out flying in extremely challenging conditions."

A Kingston Palace spokesman said that no decision has been made as of yet, but that "an announcement will be made in due course."
