Justin Bieber Performed At Coachella Festival, But Skipped Toronto Court Appearance
Apr 15th 2014, 09:37

Justin Bieber managed to make it to the Coachella Music Festival this weekend where he surprised everyone by joining Chance the rapper on stage, but it's clear where his priorities lie as the next day he was a no show at a court hearing in Toronto in the ongoing assault case.

The 20 year-old was charged with assault in January following a scuffle with a limo driver in December. According to The Toronto Star Bieber's lawyer stood in for him at the hearing on Monday where evidence was disclosed from the prosecution's case ahead of the trial. It was not mandatory that he appeared at the court date.

The case will return to court on May 12 but Bieber's lawyer indicated the star would not likely attend until a trial, which will probably take place towards the end of 2014 if the cast gets that far.

Bieber is already facing separate DUI charges in Miami where he's been spending most of his time recently as he records his next album, with Lil Wayne and Austin Mahone seen joining him in the studio.

He did make the effort for Coachella though where his on/off girlfriend Selena Gomez watched him perform. The couple appear to be very much back on according to eye-witnesses who claimed they looked smitten backstage and were holding hands.

A source added to E!News that they "were having a good time in each other's company."
