Warner Bros. have announced that Zack Snyder will direct a Justice League movie to open in cinemas sometime in 2018.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Sunday, Greg Silverman, the studio's president of production, said that Snyder would helm the movie which is likely to open two years after his Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman, which he has just started pre-production on in Detroit.
The Justice League movie follows years of pleas from fans, keen for a DC ensemble franchise to rival Marvel's The Avengers.
Silverman did not detail the characters who would star in the movie during his announcement but did say that he expected Henry Cavill to return as Superman, Ben Affleck to play Batman and Gal Gadot to play Wonder Woman, the same roles they have been cast in for Batman Vs Superman.

Warner Bros has recently been casting the role of Cyborg, a half-robotic hero who is expected to have a cameo in Batman vs. Superman, and is now thought to be appearing in Justice League too. Other DC heroes likely to make up the league include Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern.
"It will be a further expansion of this universe," Silverman told the Journal. "Superman vs. Batman will lead into Justice League."
Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing also hinted at a spin-off film for Wonder Woman. "That is our hope," she says. "With the right script, that would be viable. The world is ready for her."
