She's famous for being an award-winning actress and star of the big screen.
But Dakota Fanning looked like the ultimate rock chick as she stepped out to run a few errands in New York on Monday.
Hitting the Big Apple's streets in a grey ensemble with her wavy blonde hair draped across her shoulders, the star was a fry cry from her usual glamorous self as she embraced the grunge look.

The Last Robin Hood star seemed to be pretty serious about rocking the new style as she even ditched her make-up and headed out fresh-faced to showcase her naturally radiant skin.
While the 20-year-old proved she was a true natural beauty without caking on cosmetics, she was hardly recognisable as she strolled around the city.
However, she still turned heads with her daring yet simple outfit.
Despite clearly wanting to go relatively unnoticed, Dakota wore a dress that gave delighted onlookers quite an eyeful.
Although her clingy, grey frock was almost floor-length, it had a soaring thigh high split which showcased the star's perfectly toned legs.

Keeping things simple, Dakota opted to not wear any accessories with her outfit. Instead she just placed her light grey cardigan around her neck.
Choosing comfort over style, she also decided to wear a pair of plain black pumps rather than heels, which was perhaps just as well as she appeared to spend much of the day on foot.
Dakota did inject a hint of her A list status into her ensemble though by teaming her outfit with a stunning black Givenchy bag.

Although he was nowhere to be seen during her day out, Dakota is currently in a serious relationship with 33-year-old British model Jamie Strachan, who is 13 years her senior.
While the actress is somewhat private when it comes to speaking about her personal life, she has admitted that her parents, who met while they were in the second grade and have now been married for 25 years, are her guide to the ultimate healthy relationship.
'I've seen my mum and dad, and then I've seen other people have such empty relationships,' she told Lucky magazine.
'Wouldn't you just rather wait for the person you really want to share your experiences with?'
