The Killers, Rita Ora, Lily Allen And Chase And Status Rock V Festival
Aug 18th 2014, 11:49

Day two of Virgin Media's V Festival saw The Killers close out another year at Hylands Park, Chelmsford. It's the fourth time the Las Vegas rockers have headlined the festival and clearly they're fans of it, putting on probably their best performance ever at V, with a crazy good set list and funny moments, which was a perfect end to a good weekend of music.

Check out our headliners review here:

Earlier in the night Paolo Nutini had lead the crowd in a sing-a-long as the sunset over the Chelmsford park, a mellow moment before the energy of the Killers hit the stage. Opening with Mr Brightside it was a relentless wave of hits, until the encore of When We Were Young.

While The Killers might have got the top billing on the Virgin Media stage, Chase and Status gave them a run for their money, as they tore the roof off the Arena stage. The drum and bass experts, couldn't have got the crowd anymore pumped and finished off a weekend of strong sets from the stage.

On day one it had been all about the boys, but Lily Allen brought some girl power to proceedings on the main stage, as did Ella Eyre and Rita Ora. Lily might have accidentally flashed her nipple (again) but she still looked pretty pleased with her performance, as she left the stage and with her set packed full of sing-a-longs, as well as her Beyonce Drunk In Love cover, it's not a surprise she went down a storm with the crowd.

Rita Ora paid tribute to Madonna's birthday with her Material Girl-esque appearance and like Lilly, flashed her toned stomach in a white crop-top and jeans during the feisty performance. Opening her set with RIP, the singer was joined by a troupe of backing dancers as she raced through her 50 minute set on the Arena Stage.

Mixing in previous hits, like Hot Right Now and How We Do with tracks off her upcoming album, Ora barely stopped to catch her breath as she stomped around the stage. She threw two covers into the mix, slowing things down with Coldplay's Magic and her own version of Beyonce's mega-hit Drunk In Love.

She's performing Black Widow with Iggy Azalea at the MTV VMAs later this month and with her recent number one and success in the US, it seems it all got a bit much for Rita. Who got a little teary during her performance of the track and thanked the crowd for their support.

Ella Eyre was another strong female performer on Sunday and went down well with the crowd as she debuted some new material at the festival. The big-haired 20 year-old had never performed at V before and told us backstage after her set that she was having a blast. Stay tuned for the full interview later this week.

It wasn't all about the girls though, Sam Smith, who is fast becoming the Adele of 2014, gave another amazing set. Is there any stopping it?

There was also a touching moment from Nile Rodgers, who gave an emotional speech during  his set following a three year battle with cancer. After the set, he posted on Facebook: "This is what the world looks like. If we can play like this, why can't we live this. #peace #unity no #racism no #killing #respect #dancing #love #sex"
