Britain's Got Talent Fix Claims As One Direction's Songwriting Pal Is Scouted To Audition?
May 4th 2014, 15:22

One Direction songwriter pal Ed Drewett will reportedly be seen auditioning for Britain's Got Talent in the coming weeks, amid claims the successful singer/songwriter was scouted for the ITV talent show.

Drewett is already a well-known name in the music industry thanks to his work penning hits like 1D's Best Song Ever, The Wanted tracks Glad You Came and All Time Low and Olly Murs' Dear Darlin'.

With over 50,000 Twitter followers and the One Direction boys as friends, Ed is hardly an unknown, plus we're betting he's got a few quid in the bank thanks to his songwriting. But after Simon Cowell changed the rules of BGT back in 2012 to allow professionals to audition, it's been reported that Ed was sought out by producers to audition.

An insider has told The Sun: ''Simon is keen to sign Ed to his Syco record label but wants him to gain exposure on 'BGT' first. Ed is a mate of 1D too, so they're likely to tweet in support during the live finals".

"The move raises big questions about the audition process and highlights how many acts are scouted, rather than apply in the normal way.''

Ed has already been signed with Polydor and Virgin in the past but reportedly was open about his background when he performed for Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams in February - Simon was away due to the birth of his son Eric.

We'll apparently get to see Ed show off his talents when he performs on a future episode of the talent show.
