The surprisingly extensive world of One Direction fan-fiction may soon reach a broader audience - as the hit novel After has been snapped up by a key Hollywood literary agency.
Deadline reports that UTA have bought the screen rights to Anna Todd's work, which spans three instalments and tells the story of "a happy, optimistic young girl" who falls for a "guy with a dark side that is addictive"; a character based on Harry Styles.

"Tessa Young is an 18 year old college student with a simple life, excellent grades, and a sweet boyfriend," reads the synopsis. "She always has things planned out ahead of time, until she meets a rude boy named Harry, with too many tattoos and piercings who shatters her plans."
It's racked up 500 million hits on Wattpad, making it a logical choice for big-screen transfer - and now, of course, fans will be desperate to find out who'll play Harry and who'll play the girl.
Maybe Harry can play the role himself? Just a thought...
For now though, the 1D boys are incredibly busy with their Where We Are tour, which kicks off later this month in Colombia before heading all over the world.
The setlist leaked this week, and seems to indicate that new album Midnight Memories will, as expected, account for the lion's share of the gig.
However, hit singles 'Teenage Kicks' and 'Live While We're Young' have been left off.
