David Walliams has caused a storm on Britain's Got Talent after sending Christian Spridon straight through to the live semi-finals with one defiant push of the golden buzzer, and despite the criticism David is standing by his man.
Last night's show saw David clashing with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon over some entertaining but less than talented acts during the second round of auditions, but it was when Christian and his snazzy boots strutted on to the stage that the drama really started.
Christian took to the stage to perform a tuneless but rousing rendition of Tom Jones's hit 'Sex Bomb' with Simon, Amanda and Alesha all pushing their buzzers almost immediately.

David, in a defiant mood though, continued to dance along to the performance, refusing to block Christian's chances of success, even protecting his buzzer from Simon and co.
Unfortunately Si did manage to hit David's buzzer and it looked like it was the end of the road for Sex Bomb Christian, until David slammed the golden buzzer
While an irritated Simon asked "What the bloody hell did you do that for?" viewers have also hit out at David's decision on Twitter with one writing: "Still can't believe Christian Sprido got the golden buzzer... David why! That's not talent! #BritainsGotTalent".
So I think my Golden Buzzer may have been a little controversial... #BGT

David has addressed the furore on his own Twitter page, musing "So I think my Golden Buzzer may have been a little controversial... #BGT".
With Amanda's dancing gran also straight through on golden buzzer privileges, only Simon and Alesha have the power to send two other acts to the live semi finals.
