X Factor 2014: Louis Walsh Insists He's Not 'Intimidated' By Cheryl's Jibes
Oct 2nd 2014, 15:53

As the X Factor hots up and everyone prepares for the live shows, Louis Walsh has insisted that he's not bothered about Cheryl Fernandez Versini's jibes about him. Before the show began, rumours were rife about Louis ad Cheryl not getting on. But the veteran judge who has been a judge on the show since it began, has revealed that they get on well with each other.

Speaking to Star magazine, Louis who will be mentoring the groups on this year's show, said: "Look, Cheryl and I go back a long way and she knows that I remember her when she was starting off. That really doesn't intimidate me - it's just water off a duck's back."

Whilst Louis and Cheryl get on, the judge did admit: "Are we best of friends? No", before going on to add: "Are we fighting like cats and dogs? No, but we're both professionals and we both want to win, so there is a competitive aspect there. We spend a lot of time together backstage and we chat away. We don't sit backstage in silence plotting! We all get on fine."

On the topic of rivalry between Cheryl and Mel, who have been getting on well with each other so far, Louis commented: "I think Cheryl would love nothing more than to win, but Mel is competitive, too. I think when the show goes live, there will be spars between them."

This weekend will see the judges houses round take place on the X Factor and the judge spoke of his decision to bring back Tulisa as his guest mentor. Revealing that she was really up for helping him pick acts to take through to the live shows, Louis said: "She was really up for it. When she came to Bermuda, she was really professional and gave it 110 per cent."

Having had experience with mentoring a group to victory when Little Mix won the competition in 2011, Louis went on to say of Tulisa: "She really helped me. There was a girl group put together at Boot Camp and she gave them pointers and picked out their weak points. She was instrumental in choosing the final three."
