For months now, we've been hearing reports that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are headed for divorce.
Cannon has denied the rumors, but evidence continues to mount, and sources say the couple will make their split official in the very near future. In fact, we've told to expect a separation announcement as early as this week.
Insiders say Nick and Mariah have been living apart for weeks now, after her bizarre last-ditch effort to save their marriage failed miserably.
For a recent appearance in Vegas, Carey reportedly hired a security team for Cannon. The bodyguards weren't there for Cannon's protection, however.
No, they arrived with strict instructions from Mariah to keep the comedian away from booze and women:
"Security wasn't there to keep the girls away from him," says one source. "It was to keep him away from the girls."
He added that the guards were also instructed to keep Cannon away from the bar, as "he gets in trouble when he drinks."
Apparently, the 24-hour babysitters weren't enough to save Mariah's marriage, as the couple put its Bel Air mansion up for sale in July - around the same time that Cannon reportedly moved into a hotel.
Nick and Mariah are usually active on social media but have not been featured on one another's pages since June. Not a good sign.
