Sorry Taylor! Ed Sheeran Confirms Plans To Record Collaboration With Rick Ross
Apr 15th 2014, 09:36

Ed Sheeran doesn't exactly have the coolest street cred which is why it comes as a surprise to learn that the singer will be teaming up with gangster rapper Rick Ross, making for one of the most unlikeliest musical duos.

The ginger-haired singer, who is preparing to release his long-awaited second album 'x,' debuted his rapping skills in 2011 with the track 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You,' but no one would have predicted that he would take his foray into hip-hop that seriously as he now plans to collaborate with one of rap's hardest stars.

TMZ caught up with Ed, 23, this week, and quizzed the 'Sing' hitmaker on his unlikely friendship with Rick Ross whom he has been spotted hanging out with on several occasions.

When asked if they'll ever get in the recording studio together, Ed simply replied: "Yes!" We can't wait to hear it!

It's clear that Ed, who has previously collaborated with BFF Taylor Swift, is keen to experiment with different sounds as his brand new single 'Sing' has been compared to Justin Timberlake with his high falsettos and R&B vibe. The track premiered last week to a positive response from fans who have welcomed the gutitar-clad singer's new direction with open arms.

'Sing' is available to download around the world except for the UK, Ireland, Australia and Germany all of whom will be treated to the release on an EP in the coming weeks.

Ed gave his first live performance of the single on Saturday Night Live in the US last weekend while he also sang album track 'Don't' which some have speculated was written about his rumoured romance with Ellie Goulding.
