It's a big... it's a plane... it's confirmation of long-gestating movie news that ought to leave a few comic book fans very happy.
Warner Bros. President of Worldwide Production Greg Silverman tells The Wall Street Journal that a big screen version of The Justice League is on the way.
It will be directed by Zack Snyder and it will feature Henry Cavill as Superman, along with Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, who play Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively, in 2016's Man of Steel sequel.
"It will be a further expansion of this universe," Silverman says. "'Superman vs Batman' will lead into 'Justice League.'"
A script is still being worked on and it's unlikely we'll see Justice League in the theaters until at least 2018.
It's also unclear what other superheroes - Aquaman? Flash? Green Lantern? - will join the aforementioned team members.
But if Gadot's Wonder Woman is well-received in Batman vs. Superman, she may end up with her very own project.
"That is our hope," Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing, told WSJ. "With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her."
