Ryan Tedder has joked about meeting One Direction, revealing that they were unexpectedly normal and down-to-Earth.
The OneRepublic frontman confirmed in an interview with The Guardian that he has been working with Harry Styles, and also described coming face-to-face with bandmates Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan.
Asked about reports suggesting he had been writing with the curly-haired member, Tedder initially played it coy, saying: "That's an interesting rumour. I don't know if I can confirm or deny that, but what I will say is that I did hang out with One Direction in London.

"It sounds completely generic to say, but I'm always impressed or extremely happy when I end up in the same room with a band who are at the stage of nuclear explosion in their career and they're so normal it almost turns you off. Like, 'How are you not more messed up right now? I'm looking for syringes, where are they?'"
Eventually confirming the Styles whispers, he admitted: "Yes, we did do something is the truth. I can't say what it's for, though."

Tedder also revealed that he is completely against his record label's decision to re-release the last OneRepublic album, Native, as a Deluxe Edition re-package.
"If you've already bought it I wouldn't buy it again, to be honest," he shrugged. "I don't think the record label wants me to say that, but if you've already got it don't buy the damn thing again. We were vehemently against repackages and rereleases. To be honest, I hate that s**t, I really do. I think it's cheesy.
"We went through multiple meetings about how to handle this because we had a song, 'Love Runs Out', that was meant to be the first single on Native but I couldn't finish it and refused to put it out until I felt good about it. So then we thought about making it the first single from the next album, but I know myself well enough to know that 18 months from now my head will have moved on to something else.
"We didn't want to throw away a song that we are in love with, so we've streamlined the album and the deluxe version and added bits to it."
