The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Andrew Garfield To Trade Peter Parker For Martin Scorsese
Apr 18th 2014, 10:41

Andrew Garfield is currently promoting The Amazing Spider-Man 2 all over the world, but the star has told of his excitement after bagging a role in Martin Scorsese's next project.

The British thesp, who has also previously starred in Never Let Me Go and The Social Network, told The Mirror that he finds it "mad" that he's bagged the major new role.

"It is quite mad to say, but I am going to be in Martin Scorsese's next movie," he said. "I can't believe it, or that I get to call him 'Marty'.

"It is called Silence and is based on this incredible novel by Shusaku Endo about two priests in the 17th century."

And it sounds like the actor still can't believe his luck at even appearing in the Spider-Man movies; which have both been big success stories.

"Even after making these two movies, part of me still can't believe I got cast," he confided.

"Growing up, I loved Spider-Man. So to get the chance to be him in the movies was beyond anything I could ever dream of."

He added: "Because he meant so much, I put even more pressure on myself to get it right."

"Garfy", as Emma Stone calls him, even goes as far as to say he can relate to the web-slinger a little bit.

"I identify with [Peter Parker] far more than I do with Spider-Man," he said. "I understand what it is like to be the outsider. But with the success of the first film, I get what it is like for Spider-Man to be the centre of attention."
