He was supposed to be headlining Wireless Music Festival in London's Finsbury Park on Saturday after Drake cancelled at the last minute due to illness.

But Kanye West angered fans when he kicked off his performance behind schedule and proceeded to embark on a second rant following his 20 minute tirade the evening before, causing audience members to demand: 'We want Drake!'

Yeezy was about 15 minutes into his set when he decided to stop the music, turn off the large stage screens and get deep and meaningful.

'I'm very shy in real life. Because I'm too shy to put out some b*******. Sometimes it's hard because I'm too shy to carry off a lot. I'm arrogant and shy and a little bit lazy. I'm too shy to lie to anybody and I'm too arrogant to make myself lie to anyone because lies take too much work,' the 37-year-old said while wearing his famous bejwelled mask and a tie-dye suit.

Meanwhile a source tells the MailOnline Kanye again spoke for around 20 minutes and although the crowd grew impatient during his tirade many were thrilled when he went back to performing.

'As he performed his verse on Clique, the rapper stopped the music to explain that the chorus of the song has special meaning to him. As he began the speech the crowd started to jeer but soon stopped and clapped when he continued with the song,' the source explained.

The insider continued: 'During his now routine speech during Runaway, he opened up about his paparazzi camera incident. He said he had just been at a deposition in regards to the case and explained that on the day of the incident, he was actually on the phone being told that his grandfather was not going to make it.'

'While the crowd cheered at first, they became tired and frustrated as the speech, which once again went on for 20 minutes with Kanye complaining that "celebrities need to be allowed to have an off day as well." They began to boo with one section of the crowd saying "We want Drake." But they cheered when the speech ended and were actually more receptive than yesterday,' the source concluded.

Fuming fans: The 37-year-old told audience members he worked in the studio 'til 3am so you can listen to the music in your car.' But the crowd fought back and demanded: 'We want Drake'

Kanye also took aim at how he is perceived: 'The media try to take me down and make me seem like I'm a crazy person but I'm working hard to make this music and share it wit y'all and I know that at the end of the day you guys are my clique and that's all that matters,' the rapper said.

Adding: 'The only reason I'm on this stage right now is because y'all my clique. You know I go to the studio til 3am so you can listen to the music in your car.'

It didn't take long for festival goers to jump on Twitter and voice their frustration. '#kanyewest has now been giving a sermon/speech for twenty minutes solid. Those poor Drake fans, this is NOT what they paid for. #wireless,' one user wrote.

'#kanyewest absolutely ruined my #wireless experience!!! Left early... You're a t*** #wewantdrake,' fumed another.

But other fans were still blown away by the father-of-one's show. 'Best Yeeeeeezzzzyyyy song ever!!! #allofthelights #kanyewest #wireless,' a fan tweeted. With another adding: 'Kanye west. Wireless. Killed it.'

It comes after Kanye was booed on Friday night following an extraordinary 20-minute rant in the middle of his set.

The rapper caused confusion when he began preaching to the crowd about discrimination within the fashion industry.

'I'm not going to mention any names but... Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don't discriminate against me 'cos I'm a black man making music,' Kanye told the audience.

'F**k saving face and what it's supposed to mean, it's about living my dream.'

And it would seem the move didn't go down too well with the crowd, with audience members reportedly deserting the al fresco gig in droves.

One festival-goer told MailOnline: 'He was laying into the 'machine' and ranting about the public's perception of him. Hundreds of people left the park early because they were so bored of his long rant.

'There was serious booing towards the end of the speech, as people got so fed up and just wanted to hear him perform.'

Some fans also took to Twitter to express their annoyance at the fact that the superstar rapper halted his performance to get on his soapbox.

One wrote: 'Serious booing during Kanye's obligatory 15 minute Runaway rant at Wireless. Just get the f**k on with it mate. (sic)'

Another added: 'There is a time and a place to get on your soap box @kanyewest and #wireless is not the place.'

Kanye - husband of Kim Kardashian - was the headline act for both Friday and Saturday night after Drake cancelled his appearance at Wireless, citing illness.

The Hold On We're Going Home hitmaker released his own statement which said: 'To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won't be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend.

'I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me.

'I will be focused on resting for a quick recovery. I have the best fans in the world and I can't wait to come back to make more incredible memories together.'

The festival, which previously enjoyed several successful years in Hyde Park, will this year span two sites V Festival-style - one in Birmingham and one in London and will see the likes of Pharrell Williams, Foxes and Ella Eyre take to the stage.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Kanye West for comment.
