Nina Dobrev was said to have been very unhappy her Vampire Diaries co-star ex Ian Somerhalder is now dating Nikki Reed but it seems the pair have put their troubles aside – they appeared on a panel together at Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend to talk about season six of the show.

The Vampire Diaries stars were joined by fellow cast members Kat Graham, Matthew Davis and Paul Wesley at the event and, while they seemed happy to be there, Nina and Ian chose not to sit alongside one another.

And the presence of both Kat and Ian on the panel means they both feature in the new series.

At the end of series five, the pair was seen holding hands as the Other Side imploded on itself leaving fans wondering if they would be making a return to the show.

Executive producer Julie Plec told E! News: "You'll see enough of them to make you happy and more as it goes along. They are by no means going to be off the air for six episodes.

"The mystery is where are they, what happened, are they dead, not dead and what the hell are they going to do together, those two of all people?"

Julie also revealed there would be a four month time jump between the premiere of the new series and the finale.

Meanwhile, the producer opened up about new character Enzo, played by Michael Malarkey, and what he'll bring to the upcoming season.

She said: "He's going to bring a little bit of fun and a little bit of the naughty. He reminds me a lot of season one Damon in that any given moment you can't tell if he's going to make a joke or kill somebody."
