A short prequel season is still in the works.
When the credits roll at the end of season seven, the members of SAMCRO won't be seen again. Sons of Anarchy fans will have to hold out for a possible prequel instead.
Creator Kurt Sutter told the San Diego Comic-Con audience that the FX series would have no spin-offs, but "we are having serious conversations about our prequel," he said.

Ideas for a prequel center around the origins of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Originals back in the 1960s after the founding members returned from fighting in Vietnam.
"I think there is something really interesting about the origins of the club," Kurt told People in November 2013. "I don't think we would dovetail and start right after the series ended, but it's something I'm potentially excited about it."
The show will premiere its seventh and final season this fall and no character is safe. The fate of Charlie Hunnam's Jax is still up in the air although Kurt does know where he wants him to be emotionally and thematically by the end of the season.
He's keeping "a loose grip on the story process."
Walton Goggin's transgender escort Venus Van Dam will return this season. "There was no acting required" the first day Walton came on to set in full hair and make up, according to star Kim Coates. "It's great when she's on set.
Kurt had a somewhat different reaction to the subject of Walton's character at the panel. "I'm semi-erect just thinking about it," he shared.
Also guest-starring this season are Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love, who Katey Sagal said "did a very good job."
Sons of Anarchy is currently shooting the final season that will premiere on Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. on FX.
