Rik Mayall was paid tribute by several of his industry peers, close friends and family members today at a private funeral which took place in Devon and saw the likes of Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French among mourners.
The 56-year-old, who died on June 9 at the age of 56, was laid to rest after a service at St George's Church in Dittisham, Devon, earlier today, with 140 of those who knew him best in attendance for the final farewell.

According to BBC News, Saunders, French, Ben Elton, Ruby Wax and the actor's Young Ones co-star Nigel Planer, were present at the service and watched as Mayall was carried into the church in a wicker coffin with red flowers rested on top.
A public memorial for fans to remember the Blackadder star, will take place in September.
Prior to the funeral today, Mayall's widow Barbara Robbins released a statement, asking fans for their "thoughts and prayers" as they prepared to lay him to rest.

"We would like to let you, the fans, know that we will be having a private family funeral for Rik, as I am sure you will understand," Barbara's statement read.
"We will be burying him at 2pm on Thursday June 19 if you would like to join us in thoughts and prayer at this time. Thank you again for all your love and support to all our family, it brings great strength."
Shortly after an autopsy into Mayall's death proved inconclusive, Barbara revealed that he collapsed after suffering what she described as an "acute cardiac event."
